What Do You Wear Around the House?

Okay, so if you have read any of my previous posts you know that I am a stay at home mom that home schools...what you might not know is that I am terrible for being in my pj's all day...if not my pj's I am in my white trash outfits that I would not dare wear out in public (orange sweats, tops and bottoms that don't match, ugly tank tops, etc). Feel sorry for the delivery guys and electric guys that come out here occasionally and see me..lol...I know I should get up every day and get dressed and feel like I am ready to take charge and blah blah blah...I am at home, I don't want to get all my good clothes dirty with stains from kids and cleaning. When I do go out to take my oldest son to public school and boy oh boy if you pass me on the road, you would most likely wonder "what was that I just passed?" Now don't get me wrong I will dress up for my hubby some..I have my sexy shorts and cute tops, and if my legs have been shaved that day I will throw those on right before he comes home... :) I am sure my husband would love for me to dress more sexy around the house and hell I would...but I don't have sexy comfortable clothes to wear...if I did I would...but when it comes to buying clothes, I have four kids that come before me so usually there is no money left....hence the trashy comfy cheap clothes...So how about you. If you stay at home or even if you are just at home for the day with nothing going on. Do you get all dressed up? Would love to hear your comments...but don't make me look to bad...lol...

On the family side....My oldest son Preston is enjoying school so far....Sebastian is learning how to tear off his pull up's...not good! Tristan is becoming more and more entertaining with his imagination. And Kiersten is enjoying homeschooling, we joined a home school group yesterday and really liked it. Also, this weekend she tried out for a teen pageant...so many girls tried out for it...we will see by Wed. if she gets to be part of it. And last but not least my hubby Terry is sweating to death working outdoors in the heat of the South! Other than that nothing really has gone on....Was hoping to take a vacation on the long weekend coming up...but lack of funds as usual is keeping us at home :( Tis okay, need to get things done around here anyway! Okay, enough for now!
Later Tators!

Oh my goodness! Your blog made me laugh. I am the same way. I am also a SAHM and half of the time living in my p.j's (hubbys fire department shirts and sleep capris) I normally don't get dressed half of the time until it is time for hubby to get home. Sometimes I just don't have time to get dressed...or simply forget! I have two little ones ages 4 and 5 and babysit an ALMOST 2 year old! So...I completely hear ya girl! Who wants to sit around the house wearing skinny jeans and heels? I love to dress comfy...and will until the kids start getting embarrassed! lol

well . . . even as a child I was never a big fan of pj's. I guess I never saw the point in changing just to sleep. So I got into the habit of just sleeping in my clothes (unless its a dress or something terribly fancy). Which is nice because when I wake up and someone comes to the door - they don't know that I actually haven't changed for the day! I usually stay in yesterdays clothes until about noon. I know I'm a weirdo.

I have ugly house-only clothes, too. I wear them often, but I leave the house almost every day. Sometimes I'll forget that I am wearing my uglies until I get half way out of the subdivision. Then I just say "whatever" because I am too lazy to turn around.

What Not to Wear canidate! hehe. They always have women on that show who are SAHMs who fall into that routine. I myself don't like to wear "going out in public" clothes because I don't want them to get dirty from a 2 year old running around! My son is a messy fellow, as are all boys (ehem, and men) so there's no need in wearing something nice! Especially when you don't plan on going anywhere!

If I could wear my pjs or track pants to work I would! I would wash my hair and brush my teeth and put clean ones on daily!

I am a jeans kinda girl on a good day - people get rather shocked if I wear a skirt never mind make up!

So I get it - totally!!!

Hmmm, it's 11:25 am and I'm STILL in my PJs. So no, I don't dress up. But, like you, I keep meaning to!

Totally can relate. I often spend the day in the 'not fit for public' sweats and t-shirts...the life of a homeschooling mom :) I think it was the "flylady" who said to get dressed each day and the day would be more productive...what does she know :)

I hear you. When I was on my maternity leave I lived in my yoga pants and tee shirts. It wasn't pretty but I was comfortable. I could say I was wearing them because my cloths still didn't fit but also not the case. Now I do get up and get dressed for work every day and it still isn't pretty. I work in a casual office where we can wear pretty much anything with some limits. I am a mom of two and I am all about comfort. I threw sexy out the window long ago. I have these large clunky falling apart slip on sketcher shoes that I always wear. Often times I am wearing black dress slacks and will have my scethers on at work. I work with one other girl in the office and she is always so nicely dressed and then you have me. I just don't care. I would wear my yoga pants and tees if they would let me.

Thanks for the comment on my blog.
You sound a lot like me...I hate to admit, but now that you have I will admit it too! ☺ I'm usually in my pj's most of the day, like today, unless I make it to the gym and get really motivated afterwards.
I also like to wear tank tops, shorts, etc. that aren't always appropriate in public. My husband would of course prefer I dressed up and put some makeup on everyday, but oh well...at least he still loves me.
We have been longing for a family getaway for awhile too, but I know what you mean about the funds keeping you at home. Hopefully we can at least get away for a night for our 6th anniversary next month!

Hope to see you by my blog again.

Here in Arizona it's shorts, tank tops and flip flops from April to November. During the other months it's comfy yoga outfits and jeans.

I am on the same page as "maggie najera" not a fan of PJ but I do wear sweats or shorts and a t-shirt and I do sleep in them! Throw a bra on and some flip flops and I am ready to go out the door to take the kids to school.

I rarely wear anything nice while staying at home. I'm a WAHM/homeschooler so comfort (and not getting nice things dirty) is essential for me. I do try to not smell bad though :)

Thanks for submitting your post!

Girl... I drive my children to school in my pajamas. You can bet that at lunch time, I'm still wearing them too. Somewhere around 5 minutes before I have to walk to the bus stop, I get dressed... in comfy jeans, t-shirt and sneakers. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm a homeschooling mom with two kids in school, so I eventually have to go out and pick them up. I try to at least look presentable, but if I don't have to pick them up, and there's lots of work around the house to do, I usually wear my workout clothes or sweats. Anything to be comfortable!

bestpost, KC and Gina..thank you all for posting comments! Comfy clothes rock..maybe not in looks..lol..but for a stay at home mom...they seem to be the big hit...now if only someone can get smart and make clothes for the stay at home mom that are comfy..yet stylish and cheap...lol...

Well, being very pregnant most days you may find me a muumuu or other equally ugly house dress. I try not to stay in my pajamas all day. But, I'm not sure the muumuu is an improvement.

My solution to keep my clothes nice inspite of my five children, is to wear an apron when I'm around the house. I have a dozen of them and if one gets soiled it just gets thrown in the laundry and another one put on.

btw, I enjoy your blog! Found you from Best Post of the Week.

Oh lordy,... I'm usually still in my nightgown till about lunch. I HATE to get dressed. I'd water my front yard garden, pick up the mail and drag the trash cans to the curb in my jammies if I could...

Great post! I'm about to be a SAHM myself of my first baby and was wondering what the "uniform" is. It's hard going from an office to home only. As it is now, my husband and I change into PJ's the second we get home and slum all night. Anyway, me and my husband are veggie too and live in Cary, NC (Raleigh) but were from the DC area (not sure what part of VA you are in), so if you want to drop a note to say hi, feel free! ~Shana
